Trainee Legal Secretary, Jackelyn

Jackelyn, Trainee Legal Secretary
Kent County Council

"After finishing my apprenticeship with Kent County Council, I was given the opportunity to become a trainee legal secretary. My work involves filing, answering the telephone, inputting data, writing letters, memos and legal forms, opening the post, validating timesheets, audio transcription and general secretarial duties.

It's great having this level of responsibility and the work experience is really good. I like the chance to work and learn new things at the same time, though sometimes this can be a challenge too.

My employer has been very helpful and has trained me on everything I need to know to be able to work in a legal environment. I also attended a telephone techniques course.

I want to stay at Kent County Council and train to be a professional legal secretary and then study a diploma in law and become a legal assistant."
